Sheriff gains Conservative line on ballot; Veteran Harry Buffardi wins another place on ballot, write-in falls short.(Capital Region)

SCHENECTADY - Schenectady County Sheriff Harry Buffardi has won a primary for the Conservative Party nomination, a key third party line that could be important to his re-election effort.

Buffardi, a Democrat, had re ceived the endorsement of the party, but his Republican opponent, Michael Moffett, waged a write-in campaign to take the line. Moffett received 406 votes to Buffardi's 501 votes, according to unofficial elections returns released Tuesday after officials finished examining ballots.
