Padres Use Long Ball to Top Cubs 5-1

SAN DIEGO - The Padres are accustomed to fine pitching performances by Jake Peavy. Getting home runs at home is something out of the ordinary. Peavy allowed one run in six solid innings, and Mike Cameron hit two of San Diego's season-high four home runs at home in the Padres' 5-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night.

Peavy (6-1) held the Cubs to four hits and struck out six as he moved into a tie for the NL lead in wins and lowered his league-leading ERA to 1.63.

"He competes as well as anyone I've seen," Cubs manager Lou Piniella said. "He's got good stuff to go along with it."
