Fed: Qantas says fares won't rise as a result of marshal program
Qantas says fares on its international flights won't increase as a result of armed
sky marshals travelling on flights between Australia and Singapore.
Armed sky marshals will now be present on Qantas flights between Australia and Singapore,
after the federal government reached a cost-sharing agreement with the airline yesterday.
Qantas chief executive GEOFF DIXON says passengers won't pay more for the security measure.
Mr DIXON says the airline has not done, and doesn't plan to do any research on how
its passengers feel about the introduction of sky marshals.
He says under the plan, air marshals will operate on Qantas flights wherever the federal
government can negotiate a deal with the destination country.
